Morrison, CO | On the Boards
This custom condominium development embraces the drama of its setting perched above downtown Morrison near the Red Rocks Amphitheater. The structures cling to a steep slope carved from ancient Fountain Formation sandstone, where the architecture feels less like an addition to the landscape and more like a quiet extension of it.
Each residence is a simple, sculpted volume that frames expansive views of the foothills and distant plains. Materials are kept raw and honest: weathered steel, dark-stained timber, and glass that dissolves the boundary between inside and out. Interiors are warm and restrained, designed to slow down the occupants and encourage stillness.
Rather than imposing on the hillside, the structures seem to hover gently above it. Cantilevered forms allow the native vegetation and rock to remain untouched, letting the site breathe. At night, the glow from within softens the stark silhouettes, creating the sense of lanterns scattered along the ridge.
The project offers a quiet, residential retreat while maintaining close proximity to one of Colorado’s most visited cultural landmarks. It reflects our philopsophy and approach of integrating architecture seamlessly within its natural context while prioritizing a sense of calm and privacy.
