CS Residence
Vail, CO | Unbuilt Concept
Tucked high on Vail Pass, the design of this residence is as much about the surrounding landscape as it is about the architecture itself. From the moment you step inside, the eye is pulled outward to the sweep of pine forests and distant ridgelines. The glass walls dissolve the boundary between home and horizon, allowing the ever-changing play of light, weather, and season to become part of daily life.
Inside, the spaces are calm and pared back, shaped by natural materials that feel rooted in the Colorado terrain. Warm wood, textured stone, and carefully measured light create a quiet atmosphere that supports reflection as much as gathering. Every room is oriented to frame a different view, reminding its occupants that the mountains are the true centerpiece here.
Rather than dominate the site, the house sits gently on its rocky perch, echoing the horizontal lines of the land. It offers shelter without distraction, presence without noise. This balance of strength and stillness is what gives the home its character: a retreat that feels inseparable from its setting, where architecture and nature speak in one voice.
