Perched high above the historic mining town of Idaho Springs, this minimalist residence has expansive views to the south from Evergreen to Mount Evans. A patinated steel facade refers to nearby mining structures and rock outcroppings oxidized over time. Embedded into the hillside, the structure quietly emerges from the brow of a grassy hillside. Floor to ceiling glass openings on three sides of the open plan kitchen, living and dining space creates an indoor-outdoor experience connecting to distant mountain views south, uphill cliffs and aspen groves to the north and an alpine landscape to the west.
